Firmware
Firmware is the software that runs on your Companion. It connects the hardware to the MeshCore network and enables communication with other participants.
Many devices are already delivered with firmware installed. Nevertheless, it can be useful to check whether your device is running a current version.
Keeping the firmware up to date ensures that your Companion can use the latest MeshCore features and improvements.
Updating Firmware
The exact procedure depends on the device you are using.
Therefore, always follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer of your Companion or the official MeshCore documentation. There you will find the appropriate steps for your device.
After a successful firmware update, you can continue with setup and configuration.
Do not make it more complicated than necessary
A firmware update may sound technical at first, but for many devices it is a one-time step.
You do not need to install new versions regularly or spend your time dealing with technical details. Once your Companion is configured, you can focus on what MeshCore is really about: communication.
